Grants Program
SATH GRANTS PROGRAM
The overall goal of the USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub (SATH) is to increase international competitiveness, intra-regional trade, and food security in the SADC region.
The SATH Grants Program will be used to provide opportunities for partner organizations to conduct activities to support or enhance program implementation. A grant is an award of financial assistance made to an eligible organization.
OBJECTIVE
SATH grants will be awarded to enhance, support and facilitate achievement of results to create a greater impact and to help finance results-oriented activities that support overall project objectives. Through the grants program, SATH will seek out and engage local institutions as implementing partners, while ensuring that program resources are extended to produce maximum long-term impact as both capacity and local capabilities are enhanced.
Activities under the grants program will invest in large part in capacity building and technical assistance, and include training exercises. Grant recipients will also be encouraged to provide and identify potential opportunities for leveraging external resources from other donors, the private sector and nongovernmental organizations, and provide for a cost share contribution.
ELIGIBILITY
Organizations eligible to apply for grants include legally registered NGOs, youth associations, cooperatives, trade associations, chambers of commerce, education institutions, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, student groups, media, private sector, and coalitions of these entities. Organizations must be established and/or operating in the SADC region. U.S.-based and international organizations (who have established presence in Southern Africa) may apply for grants under this program, but preference will be given to organizations established in the region.
